I am loving the comments--just to see someone else's perspective on the book and Jasmine's character. No matter what our differences in insight are, we all seem to agree...the girl needs Jesus! I was wondering, do all of you get an email everytime someone puts a message here in the blog, or am I the only one? I certainly helps in reminding me to check the blog when I get these emails. Oh, by the way, most of you know I'm in Atlanta this weekend for the book conference. I just heard Terry McMillan speak, and she is really, really funny. Everytime I saw her on TV I always thought she was quirky-strange. In person, she really is something...and she still does (though she says she's working on it) like to use that F-word. Wishing y'all were here....M

I have lent this book out to Ty, and she has thouroughly enjoyed reading this book, too. She said that she truly believes that Jasmine is saved and loves God, but she is very trifling. I on the other hand believe she loves God but is NOT saved. As Ty and I discussed it in depth, I too realized that this is human nature and there are a lot of people just like this.

maybe it's just me... but, the biggest thing that threw me in the book were the characters' occupations?

I will review my book this week.. highlight it up.. and write my many comments in pencil in the margin... (technical and thoughts)

to gwen's comment... but when you think about... that's how it seems today... the most trifling folk aways seem to get things -- and shamely enough a lot of the time, that is how the ball falls

I thought the book was a "good read"; but, I wanted to slap Jasmine. I was having a bit of trouble coming to terms with "all her blessings". It is scary to think that you can act just as loose and shameful and still get want you want, and yeet it seems to happen all the time. I'm just saying...

All I can say is, the author certainly had the right name in mind for this book. That child (Jasmine) stayed trifling up to the very end, and I was so hopeful to see a true conversion in her. Don't get me wrong, she did make some improvements over her appearance in the first three chapters, but I can't say I was satisfied with her development overall as a character. And the ending? I was okay until I read the last page. Then I wanted to throw the book across the room. I'm curious to know what the rest of you thought.
