A Sin and a Shame will be my third encounter with this author. I read Temptation and Joy and enjoyed them both. I was surprised to see that "Jasmine" would be returning for the new book, and I'm about scared to know what she will do this time. Have any of you read other books by this author?

All I can say is, the author certainly had the right name in mind for this book. That child (Jasmine) stayed trifling up to the very end, and I was so hopeful to see a true conversion in her. Don't get me wrong, she did make some improvements over her appearance in the first three chapters, but I can't say I was satisfied with her development overall as a character. And the ending? I was okay until I read the last page. Then I wanted to throw the book across the room. I'm curious to know what the rest of you thought.

Now I know I can't wait to talk about the book. I must know why you were glad about the way it ended. Maybe we can shoot for mid-August. Maybe the 14th or 15th? I'll run it by you all later in case everyone is not periodically checking the blog.
I am loving the comments--just to see someone else's perspective on the book and Jasmine's character. No matter what our differences in insight are, we all seem to agree...the girl needs Jesus! I was wondering, do all of you get an email everytime someone puts a message here in the blog, or am I the only one? I certainly helps in reminding me to check the blog when I get these emails. Oh, by the way, most of you know I'm in Atlanta this weekend for the book conference. I just heard Terry McMillan speak, and she is really, really funny. Everytime I saw her on TV I always thought she was quirky-strange. In person, she really is something...and she still does (though she says she's working on it) like to use that F-word. Wishing y'all were here....M
